Wrinkles & Grads

I took this picture last weekend while we all were at Jim Creek for AJ's birthday celebration. We had such a great day out there on Knik River. Four wheelin' people were everywhere, I've never seen so many out riding in one place before. I heard a rumor that authorities are trying to shut Jim Creek down to four wheelers. The reason? Trash, too much trash! What's up with people?

People should be clean when they are out in the wilderness - why aren't they? When I see places filled with garbage most always its filled with beer bottles. This tells me that many beer drinkers lose all their inhibitions - including how dirty they appear to others. I believe the area is used for partying by young people. Check out what others had to say about Jim Creek and the lawless activities it's known for.

Keep it clean people! Pick up your trash before you ride out. And note to authorities... listen to all the people. Not all of us are dirty, most of us respect the land and love the places we have been. We don't want to lose the freedom to ride. It's aggravating to give up the side of road trails to the bicycle people that many times won't even use them preferring to ride on the highway with automobiles instead! The land should accommodate all the peoples modes of transportation. That is one thing we loved about Delta Junction (The Friendly Frontier), they had traffic signs on their four-wheeler trails, they didn't outlaw us!

Well, happy birthday to me today. I'm coming to terms with wrinkles lately. Aging gracefully. My face has stopped me in my tracks to stand and stare at the person I've become when I catch a surprise glimpse of myself in a mirror.

I've run my fingers over wrinkles and wondered if my grandbabies think I look as old as I thought my Gramma looked when she was in her fifties. This week as my Mom ran her fingers over my cheek - I wondered if she wondered at the wonder of how old one of her own children has become!

My daughter Marie made a video for me for my birthday. Thank you Marie. Click here to see the video.

Well, the way I look at aging ... some of us are standing patiently in line on a slow-moving (occasionally it seems to speed up) escalator, if you lean off to the side and look up a head there is a bright, beautiful place ...Eternity with Jesus Christ.

Congratulations to all the graduates in Alaska, to my nieces Bianca (from high school), Nichole, Chanel, and Tiana (from elementary school), and especially to our son Kris (from UAA, Associates degree in Applied Science, minor in Process Technologies and planning towards a Bachelor in Engineering). WELL DONE! May God bless each of you as you walk in this world keeping your hearts focused on that bright place - Eternity.

What profit has the worker from that in which he labors? I have seen the God-given task with which the sons of men are to be occupied. He has made everything beautiful in its time. Also He has put eternity in their hearts, except that no one can find out the work that God does from beginning to end. I know that nothing is better for them than to rejoice, and to do good in their lives, and also that every man should eat and drink and enjoy the good of all his labor - it is the gift of God."
-King Solomon, the wisest man ever. Ecclesiastes 3: 9-13.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!!
I didn't know it was your birthday!

I am with ya on people keeping the wilderness (and everywhere actually!) clean. Why do people have to litter??

You all graduate early up there.
Here in NYS we don't have graduation until June 28.
My teen ends on June 25 and my youngest on June 26. I wish they got out earlier!
ENjoy your weekend.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY, DEAR CONNIE MARIE. I can not believe it is your birthday. Mine is on the 27th. We could have been twins.lol I will be 65. I never thought that I would live that long. I am sure my grandchildren think that I am ancient but I can see in their eyes and their actions that they really love me.

I want to add. I am not sure how old you are but you are very beautiful. We should all be so blest. Hope you had a very happy birthday. Even better days are ahead, I have already been there and I know and then even better ahead of me. So let me tell you growing older is a blessing. connie from Texas

Well done! CONGRATULATIONS to ALL Grads!

Hey young Grads
good show I say
you've done it now
you showed us how

You've had some good times
You've made some good friends
now some will go off
to do it again

So good luck in college
You can do it
Have a real wild time
but don't over do it

Try to make friends fast
many of the early ones
will be the ones
who last

Unless you love
to get up early
don't schedule your classes
way too early

And try to get to class
as much as you can
you'll be glad you did
then you'll deserve a cold can

But try not to party
too much before class
you'll more likely attend
and you won't be an ass

If you fail the easy Calc
don't take the harder one
just keep your eye on the ball
between all the fun

You'll be entering
sort of a fantasy land
of reading, writing, and thinking
with those who can lend a hand

So, do your best with grades
but at least finish the task
and soon another graduation
will come at last...

So
CONGRATULATIONS
GOOD LUCK
and HAVE FUN!!!

:)
