How About We Skip Winter This Year?

Fall is quietly falling to the ground! I gathered the last colors of summer and brought them to the deck to enjoy. Only one sunflower I planted just barely grew big enough to join the yellow colors of fall. I cut it to enjoy on my deck before the frost gets to it. We've had a couple of frosts so far in the Matanuska Valley.

Sadly, the darkness of winter is right around the corner for me, but right now the colors of fall have brightened my heart. This is a good reminder that troubles in this world will pass away just as the gloom of winter quietly gives way to the glad flowers of spring! Am I looking forward to winter? No. Am I looking forward to spring, YES! Only three more months until the daylight stops getting shorter and begins to grow brighter!

My Momma left today. She only lives half an hour away but I will miss the all day, all night company that she was. Hopefully her little feet will make their way back here before too long.

"The LORD your God in your midst, the Mighty One, will save; He will rejoice over you with gladness, He will quiet you with His love, He will rejoice over you with singing." Zephaniah 3:17

I am LONGING for fall! The temps were in the mid 90's yesterday and I am sick of the heat! Normally, we would be going on a trip out west since it's Autumn but this year we swapped and went to Yosemite in the Springtime for the waterfalls at their peak. So, I am sweating and grumbling here in Texas!

I wish my Mom lived just a half hour away! Your mom looks like such a sweet lady! Just darlin' (as we would say down here).

I don't have any reservations about Winter. How could I when it hardly ever gets below 30 degrees and no snow?! I actually miss that though. I have SO many cute sweaters hanging in the closet, just waiting...Not yet, I keep telling them!

Mom is sweet! It is a good thing that she is close by. Last winter she spent down in Alegnagik with my sister Kotya and her daughter Jenni (polarbeads.com).

It would be fun to switch homes, you Texan's come and spend winter up here and we Alaskan's can go down there and spend winter at your house! Don't think I can get my husband to leave his snowmachine though.

I prayed for your Mom.

It's sad to say good-bye to summer colors, and also to our dear parents after they visit. I'm glad you had such a wonderful time with your Mom. I've been enjoying some special times with my father lately... an unexpected blessing!

Have a wonderful weekend. :~)
