A Wonder and Too

Early this morning I woke up and did the normal thing I do, I looked out the window to see what this new day was bringing us, weather wise. This is what I saw.

Such fantastic beauty. Look around you, look at the skies. I can see that a passion of God is beauty. The beauty around us is evidence!

I went back to bed (it was only 5:30 a.m.). Doug had just left for work. Not long after, I decided I would get up. I picked up my glasses to look out at the lake blinking and rubbing my eyes because I could not see. I could not focus. I decided that I must be tired so I began to put down my glasses and noticed I had on Doug's reading glasses!

I could not see clearly. I laughed at myself, then I stood there and thought of Sarah Johnson. She, at the time of her crime was a 16 year old girl charged with the murders of both of her parents. She truly had not been seeing clearly.

"Prime Time Crime," a show on ABC.com is a crime documentary and last night the allegations, evidences, trial and conviction of Sarah Johnson from the Sun Valley, Utah area was the topic.

Sarah became involved with a man of 19, an illegal alien who was known to be involved with drug dealing. After finding out Sarah had been intimate with this man her concerned parents resisted their relationship. Sarah's father even approached this man and told him not to see his daughter ever again. The jury ended up finding Sarah "guilty" after a long trial. Evidences proved her to be. Her driving passion - she wanted the "love" of this man even more than the love of her family.

From her story and countless others, it's apparent that when we set our desires on things or people with passions gone haywire, we will change into ugly monsters. I believe it can happen to any of us if the strong controls of our passions are not realized. It is important to set our desires on what we want to become. When following Christ we want to become like Him, yet we cannot see Him!

I can become like Someone I can't see.
That is a wonder to me.
I can walk in Someone's path whose footprints I cannot feel.
That too, is a wonder to me.

Jesus came, the doors being shut, and stood in the midst, and said, "Peace to you!" Then He said to Thomas, "Reach your finger here, and look at My hands; and reach your hand here, and put it into My side. Do not be unbelieving, but believing." And Thomas answered and said to Him, "My Lord and my God!" Jesus said to him, "Thomas, because you have seen Me, you have believed. Blessed are those who have not seen and yet have believed." John 20:26 - 29.

Beautiful thoughts, and beautiful photos. Yes, we must keep our eyes on Christ whom we can't see, so we can be in proper relationship with those we can. BTW, I like the new look of your site... seems familiar somehow! :~)
